The ACCOPI Multimedia Transport Service over ATM
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper discusses some of the issues in mapping the ACCOPI Multimedia Transport Service (AMTS) over the ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network technology. The AMTS is a transport service mainly designed to support multimedia applications. ATM offers two important characteristics required by multimedia applications (namely QoS and multicast). We first discuss general architectural issues such as multiplexing and QoS negotiation. Then we outline how the main functionalities of the AMTS (call control, data transfer, call join, etc.) can be supported in an ATM environment.

ACCOPI Multimedia Transport Service ?
In this paper, we present early considerations on the design of a multimedia transport service. The proposed design provides not only support for Quality of Service (QoS) and group communications, but also has the property to treat multimedia communications \as a whole". This diiers from most of the current transport services which transfer multimedia data as several independent monomedia.

The emerging of high-speed networks provide the infrastructure for handling a wide set of new applications, covering distributed multimedia cooperative features. The new quality of service provided by these networks as well as the various requirements of these applications raises new architectural and protocol issues and trends to cope with this paradigm. The transport layer is one point of int...
متن کاملA Multimedia Enhanced Transport Service in a Quality of Service Architecture
For applications relying on the transfer of multimedia, and in particular continuous media, it is essential that quality of service (QoS) is guaranteed system-wide, including end-systems, communications systems and networks. Although researchers have addressed many isolated areas of QoS provision, little attention has so far been paid to the definition of an integrated and coherent framework th...
متن کاملEecient Multicast in Ip/atm Networks
Real-time transport protocols rely on IP to disseminate audio/video packets from a sender to one or more receivers. In IP over ATM broadband networks, studies have shown that the eeective bandwidth is reduced by at least 10% and that larger protocol payload sizes yield higher throughput. However, a dropped cell corrupts the IP packet it belongs to and reduces the rate successfully-received data...
